Retrofit your Existing Home
Many homeowners are surprised to learn they can significantly reduce their energy consumption without having to move or build a new home! We will show you how you can retrofit your existing home with high-tech insulating materials and heating equipment to make your home more comfortable and reduce your operating costs for years to come.
The process is simple:
1. Contact Sustainable Housing to schedule a Home Energy Evaluation. A licensed Energy Advisor will come to your home and perform a complete energy assessment of your home. Click here for details.
While on-site, your Sustainable Housing consultant will offer professional advice on energy retrofits for your home, provide you with information on available rebates, and help you determine which energy retrofits will offer the greatest return on your investment.
A detailed report of our findings and recommendations will be mailed to you within 2 weeks of your Home Energy Evaluation. You will also receive an official Natural Resources Canada EnerGuide label confirming the EnerGuide Rating of your home.
3. Contact Sustainable Housing to schedule a Post-retrofit Evaluation. This involves a brief return visit to your home to verify and document your upgrades. The Post-retrofit Evaluation must be completed by March 31, 2012 in order to qualify for federal incentives. If your Post-retrofit Evaluation is not completed by March 31, 2012, you may still be eligible for provincial incentives, depending on the date of your initial evaluation and the terms of your provincial incentive program. Contact Sustainable Housing for more information.
Sustainable Housing will complete and submit any applicable rebate application forms on your behalf. Rebates will be mailed directly to you!
You will also receive an updated EnerGuide label confirming the final EnerGuide Rating of your home. This label confirms that the house was evaluated by a licensed advisor according to Natural Resources guidelines, and may be an important selling feature should you decide to sell or refinance your home in the future.
4. Enjoy the benefits of your energy efficient home:
- Increased comfort level
- Lower operating costs
- Increased equity/re-sale value
- Reduced carbon footprint
